This article is about creating a new way to encrypt data in order to keep it secure. Scientists hypothesize that the instant a quantum computer is created, it will be strong enough to un-encrypt virtually all the data that relies on such protection instantly. Most systems use an RSA cryptographic system, which would be rendered instantly obsolete with the advent of the quantum computer, which researchers at Stanford and MIT say will happen in the next decade.
This seems to be an urgent issue. If no online data could be secured, online business would essentially disappear, creating huge problems. This article is dealing with an abstract issue, but i think it still lacks a rounded discussion of the implications of such an event.

Community Service Learning Proposal
Organization
Tar Heel Readers; tarheelreader.org
Volunteer Information
Volunteers contribute time and intellectual effort to create books and assist the organization in achieving it's goals. Efforts are largely individual and, beyond registration and instructions, do not require help.
Organization's Mission
The mission of this organization is to create and update templates in order to help create books that would help with literacy rates of children, especially those with learning disabilities.
How Did You Select This Project?
I selected this project from the short list of acceptable projects that was given to us in the project outline.
Who Benefits From The Work Of This Organization?
This organizations benefits children with learning disabilities seeking to raise their literacy rates, as well as those helping them with said goal.
What Service Will You Be Providing?
As a volunteer, i will be creating the aforementioned books to be used by the organization and its beneficiaries.
Is Training Or Preparation Necessary/Available?
Training is necessary, however it is basic. It includes only instructions on how to create and post books.
How Does The Organization And The Community Service Learning Experience Address Your Interests Or Concerns For Society?
I am a big believer that a properly functioning society requires intelligent individuals. Furthermore, i think the first step to expanding the brain and its abilities is to start reading at an early age. This project is very important, and literacy is very important for society in general.
How Does This Community Service Learning Work Relate To The Course?
This project is a perfect example of how computers can have an impact on society, especially in the field of community service.
